Sixth session
Seven of us with Jo still in France met up for our weekly get-together with Michel Thomas. His students are reeling under the increasing difficulty of the irregular verb endings for I, he, she, us and you. Follow the "I" he says apart from the 3 exceptions in the whole of the French language. We too reeled somewhat so will attempt disk 4 again next week at Hazel’s house.
Fifth Lesson
We went over the 3rd disk again. Only 5 of us there as Jo, Sue, and Hazel were lucky enough to be in France to practise their new knowledge direct with the natives. We still enjoyed the morning and going over the disk again Michel’s thickly accented explanations of verb endings became clearer.
Next meeting at Jack and Joan's residence in Ashurst.
Fourth Meeting
Once again we waded into Michel Thomas's unique questioning but amazingly informative way of teaching. His emphasized "There is NO DOINGS, NO ARINGS NO ISINGS and NO INGINGS in French is remarkable in setting the way to ask questions and use grammar.
Next meeting at Jack and Joan's residence in Ashurst.
Third meeting
Once again only positive feed back, all enjoyed Michel coaching his (and us) students into making short sentences in basic French. Ces tres bon.
Second meeting
Our second meeting was once again successful - we decided to go over the first CD quickly then straight into the second by the end of which we were using sentences and confident we will all progress rapidly. It is fun and he makes it simple.Next meeting Monday week - the holiday week calendar too full for most of us.At Bill & Joan's house at 10.00am
French for absolute beginners
Eight studious and dedicated pursuers of erudition gathered in Jo’s house to master the French language with the help of the unusual teaching method of Michel Thomas. Over two hours of concentration and relieved only by a stop for tea and a biscuit we strove to grasp without grasping the mysteries of sentence construction in another language. Were we impressed? Yes, at the end we were stringing words to together with confidence such as "where would you like to eat tonight?" Seriously it is a good method and working with other people you feel you can complete the whole eight hours and achieve something worthwhile. Our next meeting is on Monday again.Eight is about the maximum for one group to meet in a house anybody else interested in forming a group let me know.
Bill
Three of the many reviews on this method of teaching. Forget School, you will learn nothing. Use This and Learn., February 27, 2005 Reviewer: master-shopper from Scotland In 8 hours you will be able to understand and use the french language without even thinking about it
Fantastique, January 20, 2005Reviewer: Sherry from Hertfordshire This is the best, only problem is where do you go once youve completed this and the language builder course. I learnt more in 8 hours than many years at school......anybody wanting to learn french must buy these cds
Great, October 8, 2004Reviewer: A reader from Ireland Quite simply this is a fantastic find though a little expensive. But I do think it is worth it. I am in France at the moment and I find that this course has given me the tools and confidence to speak French, which I could not do after 5 years in school French.
