30th October
Finished listening to the end of disk 4 and heard all about the subjunctive. Rather hard going but no doubt will get easier. Translated two articles one a comic story of a car jam and the other about grandchildren. The last half hour we watched a DVD stopping it to read and translate the subtitles. No meeting next week. The week after next we meet at Sue's.
October 23rd
Down in numbers again but we battled on and recapped on the 19 tenses. Last half we translated text from an article on Napoleon's first wife, Joséphine de Beauharnais who lived in Malmaison, Napoleon Bonaparte's residence (He should have changed that name.)Next week at Hazel's.
October 16th
Down on numbers again only 4 of us. This week we started disk 4 the last disk of Michel's. We did very well considering Michel taxed us with the 19 tenses. 19 ways of selling a maison and we got most of them right so we got to be progressing.
Again chez nous next week.
Again chez nous next week.
Special get- together
On Tuesday both French groups met up for a combined meeting at Leaside. Bit of a squeeze for all 12 of us but nobody seemed to mind. We watched Elisabeth Smith's "One day French" DVD holiday lifeline. Certainly a fresh way to learn a language and going by the laughter generated it was well received.
9th October
Good session with Michel then after the break we translated "Quoi de neuf en France" Which I believe is What is new in France? We were pleased with our progress and tomorrow both French groups meet up to watch a DVD.
Next week chez nous.
