The video file I intended to view was a new format and it didn't play on the TV so had to see it on the computer. It portrayed a boy meeting his girl friend's parents for the first time where he puts on a pretence that he has no faults like drinking or smoking. He is welcomed by them as the perfect son-in-law but he isn't as he dreams of being a pilot, musician or even a priest. A French comedy made in the late sixties. Quite amusing. Afterwards we again listened to John Noble track 9
9th January
A small class today just the 3 of us but a nice morning to study the video. Today we watched an extract from the Island. The short clip with sub-titles was easy to understand after we went through the dialogue after first viewing by mainly listening.
Bit gruesome with the part where the bugs are put in the eye of Ian.
After a break for refreshments we started on the new Paul Noble CD. track 5.

3rd January 2012
Just the four of us today on a very wet morning with strong gale force winds.
After a brief discussion on the events over the Christmas. We watched a video of a French teacher addressing his young audience about his early days as a student.
We found it a challenge but after studying the script it became a lot more understandable.
After a break we finished disk 7 of the Paul Noble lessons.
