Last minute change of plans and we went to Myra's abode just a few of us. Some people think holidays are more important than our weekly French practise. Not a good start for me as I picked up some not sure what on my shoe from the gateway. Cleaning and scrubbing the shoe was the first job.
Myra had prepared a sheet on pronunciation of words with r in so that we could emphasize the sound so that kept us amused for quite some time. After a break it was time for CBF and this was a recap of the future tense one of the easiest tenses to learn. Went out the backdoor and admired the healthy looking chickens and the eggs that they produced.

On a perfect Spring day we ventured into town chez Geoff for another scintillating session of French. Myra delighted us with another home made poem - seriously it was good and not something I could do.
We then did some dictation of a small paragraph about a skiing holiday followed by a memoir of the pronunciation of some combinations of letters.
Stopping for tea and Janet's delicious cakes we then continued with CBF helped by Geoff's translation. We left late as the conversation didn't stop until 12.30.

Small gathering today but no less entertaining. Myra purged her mind from thinking about her day in the forest with her family by writing an epic poem of the event. Completed during the middle of the night. It was very good all in French of course.
Geoff did the usual transcript of CBF and we listened with new understanding from having read the dialogue before hand. A nice morning and nobody seemed in hurry to go as the conversation then turned to the use of nuclear power stations where opposite views were expressed.

Chez Ray & June's for today's French lesson. Myra brought in a French leaflet on how to whack some paper-mâché (chewed paper in French) bee stuffed with sweets hung from the ceiling. To break into it broom handles were not recommended but this was ignored and a spade was then used to break it open. People do some funny things in their own homes. Anyway all those sweets are bad for children no wonder they want to impose fluoridation on the rest of us. Apparently the French do it all the time.
Mike then told us about his trip to warmer climes off the African coast on some Island that was filled with caves hollowed out from old lava channels, Sounds dangerous it blew only 200 years ago not long really. All in French of course so a lot escaped me. He did say after a week he had enough so I won't go there this year.
June was very creative in producing a poem about her visit to Paris Oh La la. There are artistes there in plenty and one did a very good portrait drawing of June.
Ray was disappointed the pencil snapped before his fine features were drawn
Geoff translated another Coffee Break French for us and we just had time to go through it before dashing off to a lunch at the Ship Inn.
